Open water swimming is an exhilarating way to enjoy the great outdoors. From ocean dives with friends to solitary lake romps in the evening, you can have a great time wherever there is open water! To maximize your fun and stay safe, though, there are some necessary precautions and items to take along. Make sure you bring a full wetsuit with you or at least some neoprene material for insulation from the cold. Also make sure your suit fits snugly so it won’t catch on anything or slow you down too much. Most importantly, make sure someone else knows where and when you will be swimming – safety in numbers! However long or far you choose to swim, by properly preparing for your trip, it will be enjoyable and stress free.
